A new year ushers in a new series of paintings that I'm working on called the "Cutouts." The concept for these pieces is to break away from the confines of the traditional square or rectangular shaped canvases by creating dynamic, undulating forms which make up the surfaces of the paintings. They are then mounted on partially exposed stretcher boards giving them a sense of depth, space and gravity. I'm excited about the possibilities and what this will lead too!
